National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam is an autonomous law school in India. It is located in Guwahati, Assam. The National Law School and Judicial Academy, Assam has been established as a torchbearer in the field of education in the country. The institution has been established by “The National Law School & Judicial Academy, Assam Act”, that is Assam Act XXV of 2009. It was established in 2010 by the Government of Assam (Assam Act XXV of 2009) as a public university dedicated to the field of legal education. And it is spread over 21 acres. Historically, the Institute is funded by The Committee appointed by the Chief Justices’ Conference on Legal Education and Training (1993) and the All India Law Ministers’ Conference (1995). It had resolved to set up in each State of India a Law School modeled on the lines of the National Law School of India University at Bangalore in Karnataka for improving the quality of professional legal education in the country.

NLU Assam B.A. LL.B. Admission 2019
NLUJAA B.A., LL.B. is an integrated course that spans over five years. The intake capacity for the programme is 60 seats per year. For admission into this programme, the Student must pass 12th (10+2) or equivalent with at least 50% marks.
The Students must clear the CLAT to be eligible for the admission. Applicants who are appearing for their qualifying examination could also apply and appear for the test, provided they pass the concerned examination and produce the proof of results at the time of admission.
Once the Student clears the CLAT, they will be called in for the counseling session where they will be allotted seats into the college they prefer. Selection of Students will be on the basis of merit. The selected Students must submit the related documents and pay the admission fees if any. The Students belonging to the reserved category shall be required to submit the necessary documents from the respective competent authority to prove their claim to the reservation.
NLU Assam LL.M. Admission 2019
NLUJAA LL.M. is a one-year degree programme. The students are given a choice to pursue a General LL.M. or a specialized degree. For pursuing a specialized LL.M., the student must opt for minimum four electives out of the six in their preferred specialization to secure an LL.M. in the concerned specialization. The total intake capacity of the programme is 10 seats per year.
For admission into this programme, the Students must pass either a 3-year or a 5-year integrated LL.B. degree with a minimum of 55% marks. The Student must also clear the CLAT. entrance examination to be considered eligible. Students who are appearing for, or awaiting the results of the qualifying examination could appear for the entrance test if they submit the proof of results at the time of counseling.
NLU Ph.D. Admission 2019
NLUJAA Ph.D. is the institution’s attempt to give more importance to the field of legal research. The programme can be done either as a full-time enrolment or as a part-time enrolment. The full-time course must be completed within three years while the latter can take about five years to complete.
The Student must have completed their Master’s Degree in Law with a minimum of 55% marks. Judges from High Courts and the Supreme Court can also apply for the programme.
The Students must also qualify the Admission Test organized by the University. Students with certain qualifications are exempted from attending the test. Students who cleared the entrance test, as well as the exempted Students, will have to submit a Preliminary Proposal. Based on their merit and the Preliminary Proposal, the Students will be called in for the interview.
The Students who clear the admission test and the interview shall be provisionally admitted to the Ph.D. programme. These Students will then have to attend a coursework organized by the university. After the successful completion of the programme, the Students should submit their research proposal to the Research Committee. The Students will be given enough chances to submit the final proposal. After the final Presentation of the research proposal, the Student shall be allowed to get permanent admission into the Ph.D. degree programme.
